Learning for all agesMarketplace Literacy programs in Argentina were designed and provided to both children and adults. Sessions with children were more focused on providing basic knowledge and dental care. Additionally, technology-related skills were also taught such as using social media in an entrepreneurial way, 3D printing, and how to search the internet effectively and accurately. In comparison, the training utilized with adults is more traditional and emphases how to become a better consumer/entrepreneur in subsistence marketplace. All sessions, including dental care, are free to every participant.

MLP in ArgentinaThe MLP Program in Argentina started when Francisco Seufferheld and Jeannine Koninckx Horta began working with Madhu Viswanathan. This was our first program in Latin America. Both Francisco and Jeannine have degrees in enology (the science and study of wine and winemaking). In addition to this, Francisco has an advanced degree in geography and Jeannine has one in dentistry. They have worked and lived in many places around the world, but wanted to give back to their original home in Mendoza, Argentina. They used their extensive experience and educational backgrounds to better the lives of people living in subsistence, both rural and urban, in western Argentina.

Marketplace and Maker LiteracyFrancisco and Jeannine were among the first to bring 3D printing and maker literacy into our program. This approach provided a teaching tool to gain attention and interest and to provide consumer literacy (evaluating something made from a 3D printer as a customer) and enterpreneurial literacy (making something and learning how to build a business around it).
